Jewelry touches the heart. Most of us can vividly recall when and where we received a cherished piece of jewelry. Memories of that magical moment, like the precious gift itself, endure forever.
Ahee Jewelers understands how important it is to select that memorable piece of jewelry. The Ahee Family and their talented staff including GIA Graduate Gemologists have had the pleasure of helping their customers choose jewelry for more than 56 years.
Since 1947, when founder Edmund T. Ahee began the business, Ahee's has maintained a strict standard of excellence. "My father was always available to his customers. He loved this business and worked every day at the store until the time of his death in 1999," says Peter Ahee. "Like my father, we, as a family, are committed to giving superior service to our customers."
Ahee's quality of service has been recognized locally and nationally. America Online named them "Best Watch and Jewelry Store" in Michigan for the third consecutive year. American Online writes, "Ahee's is to Detroit what Tiffany's is to New York." The "Peoples Choice Award" was bestowed on Ahee's by the Metro Times. This year Ahee's was named "Michigan Retailer of the Year" for its quality of service and commitment to the community.
Each year Ahee Jewelers makes numerous donations to local churches, schools, and organizations. "When my dad was just starting out, he did what he could to help others. He was born and raised in Detroit. He grow up during the Depression, living near Mt. Elliot and The Capuchin Monastery. And because of his early experiences, he lived with great sensitivity to the poor,' says Peter.
Eventually as his business grew, Edmund T. Ahee was able to start the Capuchin Souper Summer Celebration some 22 years ago. This fundraiser helps the Capuchin Soup Kitchen, a nonprofit organization that feeds thousands of people daily. Edmund T. Ahee Jewelers underwrites the entire fundraiser and donates all proceeds to the Capuchins. The fundraiser has more than $4 million for the less fortunate. "Giving back to the community and appreciating his customers were my dad's cornerstones. The foundation he built supports our business today as we continue to grow," says Peter.
Today all of the Ahee family including Edmund's wife Bettejean, are involved in the business. Pamela Ahee Thomas, the Ahee's only daughter, is an international award-winning designer. She helps lead their onsite team of world-class craftsman to design and create original pieces of jewelry. In addition to Ahee's unique jewelry, the store continuously adds the finest designer jewelry and timepieces including David Yurman, Roberto Coin, Rolex, IWC, and Tag Heuer to name a few.
"We offer something for every taste and every lifestyle---in every price range," adds Peter. Ahee also has a joint venture with one of the largest diamond suppliers in the world and operates their own diamond facility in Antwerp, Belgium, the diamond capital of the world. This partnership allows the Ahee's to shop the world for some of the finest diamonds at tremendous values.
Recently the 37 showcases in the Ahee store were redesigned to highlight and display their beautiful jewelry. From the ambiance created by the updated showcases, beautiful piano music, and refreshments, to the talented and knowledgeable staff, Ahee Jewelers makes every visit a truly special experience.
